Athletic Competition

A variety of competitive athletics is offered at Highland Middle School for boy boys and girls.  Highland Middle School participates in the Tri County Athletic Conference, consisting of the following schools:  Carlyle, Collinsville, O'Fallon, Mascoutah, Triad, Wesclin, and Lebanon.  Fall sports include baseball, softball and cross country for bys and girls.  Winter sports include boy's basketball, girl's basketball, dance team and cheerleading.  Spring sports include volleyball for girls and track for both boys and girls.  Students may participate in only one sport per season.  Games are held periodically after school both here and away.  Highland is also a member of the Southern Illinois Junior High School Athletic Association, and our teams participate in the SIJHSAA State tournaments.

The purpose of the athletic program is to promote sportsmanship, encourage school spirit, build physical fitness and increase knowledge about the specific sport involved.

Students must have a current physical on file (within the last calendar year) in order to tryout for any sport.  School Physical Form - Physicals are required for K, grade5 and grade 9 students and for new students in the district.  Students must maintain passing grades in all subjects to be eligible for the programs.
