Program Assistants

HMS has fourteen program assistants who help our teachers and students in a variety of ways: Diane Barker, Stephanie Cummings, Traci Frey, Tate Gehrig, Mary Jakel, Patty Jennings, Nancy Klaus, Jodi Neumann, Kayla Pike, Derek Reckmann, 
Katie Richter, Paula Tebbe and Sue Zuccarelli.

B.S. in Education from University of Missouri-St.Louis.  Mrs. Jennings has been a program assistant with the district since 1997, working at the center schools and the middle school.


She and her husband moved from St. Louis to the Alhambra area in 1994.
Mrs. Jennings volunteers at church and with the USO and Special Olympics.
She  enjoys the outdoors, working in her garden, reading, and quilting. 
Her daughter lives and works in Muscatine, Iowa and her son lives in Edwardsville and works in St. Louis.

Jodi attended HCUSD schools growing up and graduated from SIU -E in 2001 with a BS in Early Childhood Education.  She subbed for the district before being hired on as a program assistant in December of 2009 at Highland Primary. Jodi assisted at Highland Primary  in 1st grade until the 2017-18 school year when she began working at HMS with grade 6. She lives outside of Grantfork with her husband, Brad, two kids, Chloe and Clayton, and three cats, Marble, Oreo, and Puddin’.  She enjoys being with her family and taking her kids to the activities they are involved in!

Substitute teacher in the Highland and Bethalto school districts before being hired as the DSR director in November of 2015.
Plans to return to school and obtain teaching certificate.
Hobbies: 
-golf, fantasy football/baseball, traveling, coaching in the summer.
Facts:
- Interned with Ripken Baseball during the summer of 2012 in Aberdeen, MD.
- Played prospect baseball with the FCA affiliated Southern California Catch during the summer of 2013 in Los Angeles, CA. 

- Legally ordained to perform marriage ceremonies in Illinois.


Mr. Derek Reckmann - DSR Director

Mrs. Richter graduated from SIUE in 2009 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education.  She has been employed with the Highland School District ever since.  Mrs. Richter teaches 7th grade LA+ and 8th grade Health and is a Program Assistant for teams 8 Red and 8 Black.  She loves reading books and spending time with her family and friends.  Mrs. Richter currently lives in Highland with her husband Carl and their daughter Hailey.  Much of her time is spent going to Hailey's dance competitions throughout the year.  However, in her spare time she loves camping, boating, baking, and hosting family game nights.

Debbie is a graduate of McKendree College with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with Criminal Justice emphasis.

She is married to Johnny and they have two boys. Debbie volunteers in various capacities including church and Bond

County Foster Hope.  Debbie is an aide to Mrs. Holcmann for grades 6,7 and 8.

Mrs. Zuccarelli is currently a resource aide at HMS on 7 black.  She has worked at HMS since 2014, before that she worked at TMS.  She has an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts and a Secretarial Degree.  She is originally from the Chicago area.  Her husband and family relocated to Highland in 2007.  She has three boys.  The oldest is married, and his wife is also a teacher in the Highland school district. She also just recently became a first time grandmother.   The second oldest currently is a student at SIUE, and the youngest attends Highland High School.  Her hobbies include, reading, cooking, baking, swimming, and spending time with her family.
